Sunshine State 500: A Weekend to Remember in Daytona

Some events are about the destination, others are about the people. The Sunshine State 500 in Daytona was the kind of weekend that reminded everyone just how special this community of Ranger Tugs and Cutwater owners truly is.

From the moment boats began arriving at Halifax Harbor Marina, a contagious, fun-filled energy set the tone for the entire weekend.

Friday’s dockside gathering gave everyone a chance to settle in and reconnect. Owners checked in, picked up their captain’s bags, and eased into the weekend with good conversation, light bites, and waterfront views. It was the perfect start. Simple & relaxed.

Learning, Exploring & A Few Surprises

Saturday brought a full day of activity. Owners had the chance to sharpen their skills with educational seminars, connect with industry partners, and spend time on the water or around town.

Daytona itself added another layer to the experience. With the Art Festival happening along Beach Street, many attendees took advantage of the shuttle into town, enjoying local shops, art, and the vibrant atmosphere just minutes from the marina.

Back at the docks, the boat decorating contest and on-the-water training kept things moving. And in true Rendezvous fashion, it wasn’t just about the schedule; it was about the unexpected moments in between.

Including one that no one saw coming.

A surprise appearance from the Motorcycle Lawyers brought a completely different kind of energy to the marina. Watching them perform wheelies and tricks on 1,000-pound Harleys quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend. It was unexpected, a little wild, and perfectly Daytona.

At the same time, the sense of community was on full display. One of our own owners generously offered complimentary USCG safety checks, giving fellow boaters added confidence and peace of mind before heading back out on the water.

An Evening That Brought Everyone Together

Saturday night’s signature party brought everything together. Great food from Salty Skipper BBQ, live music by Lucy Spotts, and a crowd that was more than ready to celebrate.

The costume theme, "Daytona and Space Coast," did not disappoint. From race car drivers to astronauts and everything in between, the creativity and humor on display made for a night that felt equal parts party and reunion.

Prizes, giveaways, and plenty of laughter carried the evening, but what stood out most was the atmosphere.

A Community That Makes It Special

Events like the Sunshine State 500 don’t come together without a lot of effort behind the scenes. A huge thank you goes to our Commodores, Scott and Janna Trevisan aboard Cutwater 30 "Sea Tunes", whose local knowledge and dedication helped shape this into such a memorable weekend.

We’re also incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors, including Ranger Tugs, Cutwater Boats, Solara, Andy Sweet with Volvo Penta, Liz Childs from Marks Marine Insurance, Dick Seidenspinner from International Seakeepers, and our prize sponsors Chesapeake Jewelers, Yamaha, and Four Fish Marina.

Most importantly, thank you to the owners who make these events what they are. This is more than just boating; it’s a group of people who genuinely enjoy spending time together, sharing experiences, and building something that keeps growing year after year.

Looking Ahead

As the weekend wrapped up with Sunday’s roundtable and departures, one thing was clear—this group continues to raise the bar.

If you missed Daytona, we’d love to see you at an upcoming Rendezvous:

  • Maryland Rendezvous – Harbor East Marina: June 4–7, 2026
  • North Carolina Rendezvous – Oriental Marina: September 18–20, 2026

Because if this weekend proved anything, it’s that the destination is only part of the story.
